Picture Book - Make a Move

This independent dancefloor anthem is ideal for fag and toilet breaks.

Described as a ‘high-energy, ethereal dance floor treat', this new single is quite a disappointment.

After plugging in, I spent the first playthrough of the song fiddling with my headphones. Are my sound levels wrong? No, it's just that the recording quality is absolutely abysmal. I know this is an independent music act, but this is not a good start.

The tempo too was oddly slow for a heart-pumping floorfiller. The vibe was definitely more ‘morning after’ than ‘club hit'. The rolling bass drum and simple synth licks make it quite unremarkable. ‘Make a move’ also has the rather unfortunate hook-line of ‘ I can't believe I'm still here'. I don't know what ‘underground club scene’ they hope to perform at on their tour this Autumn, but I'll certainly think twice before making an appearance. Their only saving grace is their status as an ‘audio visual act'- perhaps their live performances would be considerably better than the EP.

Picture Book's ‘Make a Move’ is released on 26th October. Ity is available to download from itunes, amazon and at http://www.picturebookmusic.com.
