Dominique Young - Hot Girl

18 Year old rising star from the Floridian ghetto presents us with a playfully dizzying, heavy and original sound.

Dominique Young grew up next door to the military control centre for the Iraq war, and this is certainly audible in the fresh sound of this 18-year old rapstress.
The beats behind her are incredibly industrial and heavy, with the influence of dubstep, grime, drum and bass, electro and even video games working alongside the dark sounds of war. This contrasts greatly with her sing-song playground-style lyrics to create something quite unsettling, dark and extremely addictive.
Dominique explores a darker side to hiphop. The spiralling lyric ‘I'm a Hot Girl’ combined with the messy military drums and dirty bassline makes a tune that threatens to spiral out of control. This could very well be the sound of post-9/11 American youth.

Dominique Young releases her new EP ‘Hot Girl’ on 2nd November on ARTJAM. Cat. no. ARTJAM001
